Supporting High-Quality Preparation for Adulthood Provision

The Pop-Up PfA programme is designed to support schools in strengthening their Preparation for Adulthood provision, with clear links to the SEND Code of Practice, Gatsby Benchmark 3 – Addressing the Needs of Each Pupil and Benchmark 4 – Linking Curriculum Learning to Careers, and Ofsted’s Personal Development framework, while also complementing programmes such as ASDAN and the EQUALS curriculum.

Each unit provides structured, practical learning alongside comprehensive teaching support. This includes a detailed teacher handbook and student workbook, featuring step-by-step visual guidance, symbol-supported resources, and clear, purposeful vocabulary mapped to communication frameworks such as Blank’s Levels. Key learning is linked to independence, future planning and real-world contexts, including employability and everyday life skills.

Guidance is included to support adaptation for a range of SEND needs, ensuring learning is accessible, meaningful and tailored to support individual progression.

Units support schools to evidence meaningful opportunities for students to develop independence, life skills, employability awareness and readiness for their next steps.
